Method

  3. Add ginger paste and green chilies and sauté for a minute.
  4. Add the soaked urad dal and sauté for 5 minutes.
  5. Add the soaked rice and sauté for another 5 minutes.
  6. Add salt to taste and mix well.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a pressure cooker and add 3 cups of water.
  8. Cook on high flame until 1 whistle and then simmer for 10 minutes.
  9. Turn off the flame and let the pressure release naturally.
  10. Open the pressure cooker and fluff the rice with a fork.
  11. Serve hot with raita or any side dish of your choice.

  • You can also add vegetables like carrots, peas, and beans to make the dish more nutritious.
  • Make sure to soak the rice and dal separately for at least 30 minutes to ensure even cooking.
  • If you do not have a pressure cooker, you can also cook the rice and dal in a regular pot.
