- 2 cups of brown rice
- 4 cups of water
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon of cumin powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
- 1/2 cup of raisins
- 1/2 cup of chopped almonds
Equipment
- A large pot with a lid
- A wooden spoon
- A cutting board
- A sharp knife
- A measuring cup
Method
- Rinse the brown rice in cold water and drain it.
- Heat the olive oil in the large pot over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot and sauté them until they are translucent.
- Add the brown rice to the pot and stir it for a minute.
- Add the water, salt, black pepper, cumin powder, paprika, turmeric powder, and cinnamon powder to the pot and stir it well.
- Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with the lid.
- Let the rice simmer for 30-35 minutes, or until it is tender and all the water has been absorbed.
- Remove the pot from the heat and let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and stir in the raisins and chopped almonds.
