- 4 cups of water
- 1/4 cup of olive oil
- 1/4 cup of sofrito (a mixture of onions, peppers, garlic, and cilantro)
- 1 packet of Sazón seasoning
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 cup of tomato sauce
Equipment
- A large pot with a lid
- A wooden spoon or spatula
- A measuring cup
- A cutting board and knife
Method
- Begin by rinsing the rice in cold water until the water runs clear. Drain the rice and set it aside.
- In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sofrito and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Add the rice to the pot and stir until it is well coated with the sofrito and oil.
- Add the Sazón seasoning, salt, and tomato sauce to the pot and stir until everything is well combined.
- Add the water to the pot and stir gently. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid. Cook for 20 minutes without stirring.
