Ingredients

  • 2-3 green chillies, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons of oil
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds

  • 1 teaspoon of cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon of garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves for garnish

Equipment

  • A saucepan for cooking rice
  • A wok or a frying pan for stir-frying
  • A strainer for draining the rice
  • A knife and cutting board for chopping vegetables

Method

  1. Wash the rice and soak it in water for about 30 minutes.
  2. Boil 2 cups of water in a saucepan and add the soaked rice. Cook until the rice is done and drain the excess water. Set aside.
  3. Soak the soya chunks in hot water for about 10 minutes. Drain the water and squeeze out the excess water from the soya chunks. Set aside.
  4. Heat oil in a wok or a frying pan. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  5. Add chopped onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped green chillies. Stir-fry until the onions are translucent.
  6. Add chopped bell pepper and carrot. Stir-fry for a few minutes until the vegetables are cooked but still crunchy.
  7. Add the soya chunks and stir-fry for a few minutes.
  8. Add coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, and salt. Stir-fry for a minute.
  9. Add the cooked rice and mix well. Stir-fry for a few minutes until everything is well combined.
  10. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.

  • You can use any vegetables of your choice in this recipe.
