Method

  1. Rinse the rice in cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Soak the rice in water for 20 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  4. Add cumin seeds and fry until fragrant.
  5. Add the chopped onion and fry until golden brown.
  6. Add the diced potatoes and fry until tender.
  7. Add salt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and garam masala. Mix well.
  8. Add the soaked rice and mix well.
  9. Add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil.
  10. Reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a lid.
  11. Simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the water has evaporated.
  12. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
