Ingredients

  • 2 cups of rice flour

  • 2 tbsp of butter, melted
  • 1 cup of water
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the rice flour, urad dal flour, red chili powder, asafoetida, sesame seeds, cumin seeds, melted butter, and salt. Mix well.
  2. Add water little by little and knead the mixture into a soft dough. Make sure the dough is not too sticky or too dry.
  3. Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pan for frying the murukku.
  4. Grease the murukku press with some oil and fill it with the dough.
  5. Press the dough into the hot oil in a circular motion to form the murukku.
  6. Fry until the murukku turns golden brown in color and is crispy.
  7. Remove the murukku from the oil and place it on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  8. Repeat the process with the remaining dough.
  9. Allow the murukku to cool down completely and store it in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying the murukku.
  • If the dough is too dry, add a little water. If the dough is too sticky, add a little rice flour.
  • You can adjust the amount of red chili powder based on your preference for spiciness.
