- 1 cup rice semiya
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp urad dal
- 1 tsp chana dal
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 green chillies, chopped
- 1 tomato, chopped
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 cups water
- Coriander leaves for garnish

- Non-stick pan
- Spatula

Method
- Heat oil in a non-stick pan and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add urad dal and chana dal and fry until golden brown.
- Add chopped onions, green chillies and fry until onions turn translucent.
- Add chopped tomatoes and ginger garlic paste and cook until tomatoes are soft.
- Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt to taste and mix well.
- Add 2 cups of water and bring it to a boil.
- Once the water starts boiling, add rice semiya and mix well.
- Cover the pan and cook for 5-7 minutes on low flame or until the semiya is cooked and the water is absorbed.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
Notes
- You can also add vegetables like carrots, peas and beans to make it more nutritious.
- Adjust the spice level according to your taste.
- You can also add grated coconut for extra flavour.
