Description

Sticky rice, also known as glutinous rice or sweet rice, is a type of rice that becomes sticky and chewy when cooked. It is commonly used in many Asian cuisines, including Thai and Japanese. This recipe will teach you how to make perfect sticky rice using an Instant Pot, a pressure cooker that makes cooking rice much quicker and easier.

Prep Time

The prep time for this recipe is minimal, as there are only a few ingredients to prepare. It should take about 10 minutes to prepare the rice and water.

Cook Time

The cook time for this recipe is approximately 22 minutes. It takes 10 minutes for the Instant Pot to come to pressure, 12 minutes to cook the rice, and then an additional 5 minutes for the pressure to release naturally.

Ingredients

- 2 cups sticky rice - 2 1/2 cups water

Equipment

- Instant Pot - Measuring cup - Rice paddle

Method

1. Rinse the sticky rice in a fine mesh strainer until the water runs clear. 2. Add the rinsed rice and water to the Instant Pot, and stir to combine. 3. Close the lid and set the valve to the sealing position. 4. Press the "Manual" button and set the timer for 12 minutes on high pressure. 5. When the timer goes off, allow the pressure to release naturally for 5 minutes. 6. After 5 minutes, use the quick release valve to release any remaining pressure. 7. Open the lid and fluff the rice with a rice paddle. 8. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

- Do not stir the rice immediately after cooking, as it will become mushy. - If the rice is not sticky enough, try reducing the amount of water used by 1/4 cup. - If the rice is too sticky, try increasing the amount of water used by 1/4 cup.
