Ingredients

Method

  1. Place the saffron threads in a small pot with 1 tablespoon of water and let it soak for 10 minutes.
  2. Wash the rice in cold water until the water runs clear.
  3. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
  4. Add the sliced almonds and cook until lightly browned.
  5. Add the raisins and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  6. Add the rice and salt to the pot and stir until the rice is coated with the butter.
  7. Add the water and saffron (with the soaking water) to the pot and stir to combine.
  8. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a lid.
  9. Cook for 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
  10. Remove the pot from the heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.
  11. Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute the almonds with any other nuts of your choice.
  • You can substitute the raisins with any other dried fruit of your choice.
  • If you don't have saffron, you can substitute it with turmeric for the color, but it won't have the same flavor.
