  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste

  • Heavy-bottomed pan

Method

  1. Take a heavy-bottomed pan and heat oil in it.
  2. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, and chana dal. Fry until the dal turns golden brown.
  3. Add chopped onions and green chilies. Fry until the onions turn translucent.
  4. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
  5. Add chopped tomatoes, salt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Cook until the tomatoes turn mushy.
  6. Add garam masala powder and stir well.
  7. Add cooked rice and mix well with the tomato mixture.
  8. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  9. Serve hot with raita or pickle.

Notes

You can use leftover rice to make this recipe. Just make sure to fluff it up before adding it to the pan. If you want to add more vegetables, you can add carrots, peas, or potatoes to the recipe. You can also adjust the spice levels according to your taste.
